WEST KENT MENSA

This website has now closed and will be archived in the next few months.
Technology has advanced at a furious pace since we started this site ourselves in 2000. All Mensa pages and information is now held at the main site http://www.mensa.org.uk  To contact them to enquire about South East England and West Kent activities, the best way is via http://www.mensa.org.uk/about/contact_us.html

Thank you for your support over the years and good-bye

What we've been doing.....

Future events

Previously in West Kent...

We aim to make this an effective resource for local members (both active and not-so-active); to tell you what is planned, show  what we’ve been doing (with photos!); and provide useful links to other relevant sites. The area tries to cover the  TN1 to TN22 postal districts. We also list events in some other parts of Kent.

What kind of thing do we do?

2009
The programme of events for 2009 has provided something for all tastes. Our gastronomic tastes have been satisfied with visits to Oriental, Indian, Italian and English restaurants whilst our brain cells have been exercised with a talk on sustainability, a walking treasure hunt, a games evening and this year’s inter-area quiz, which attracted teams from East Kent, mid-Kent, North Kent and West Kent (the winners!).

Those of an athletic disposition enjoyed curling at Fenton’s, attended by 18, bat’n’trap at The White Rock with 19, croquet at The Spa and a walk from Ightham Mote to The Chaser for a Sunday lunch. June and July saw us visiting Riverhill Gardens and Sheffield Park on the Bluebell Railway, with outings to Chiddingstone Castle and Lullingstone Castle and its World Garden.

Two members kindly hosted afternoon BBQs at their homes, we viewed the Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water and had our annual trip to Boulogne to enjoy French cuisine and to replenish our stocks of essential liquids. As a fitting finale to a rewarding and lively year, we will be getting into the festive spirit at the wintry surroundings of Edward’s Brasserie for what promises to be an excellent meal.

There's no space on this page to list events in previous years, so click here to get a flavour of time past...

In order to make life simpler, we try to put the main monthly event on the 22nd of each month, but it doesn't always happen! However, we aim to have events on a variety of days and times, so that most people can make events at some time. We do slot other things in between, so watch this web site!
